HKHC Speaker Series: Conversations on Hong Kong History with Professor Jeffrey Wasserstrom
Date and Time: 17 May 2023, 10-11:30am
Venue: B.H05 LT, Arts Complex, University of Bristol
There has been a great surge of interest in Hong Kong’s past amongst the general public. How has this ever-growing public interest created opportunities and challenges for academic historians? What might historians offer to different stakeholders in society who are interested in the history of Hong Kong, and how might we do so?
In this in-person public event hosted by the Hong Kong History Centre at the University of Bristol, Professor Jeffrey Wasserstrom will join Dr Vivian Kong in conversation to discuss his experience of writing on Hong Kong and the potential for the Academy to connect with the Public.
Professor Jeffrey Wasserstrom is Chancellor’s Professor, History, at the University of California, Irvine, and the author of Vigil: Hong Kong on the Brink (2020).
Dr Vivian Kong is Lecturer in Modern Chinese History and Co-Director of Hong Kong History Centre at the University of Bristol.
